Classic mountain bike tours in Tyrol

Bike trails in the Austrian Alps
Mountain biking at the Paznaun valley

Mountain biking in the Alps: fantastic trails await novice mountain bikers, experienced tour bikers and even race cyclists, including logging and tarmac roads, flat trails and great differences in altitude, steep ascents and descents with only short single trail sections. Choose between mountain roads, gravel tracks, forest paths and single trails to experience the mountain environment of the Alps surrounding Kappl.

Experience breathtaking views of the mountains and see the Alpine environment up close during a mountain bike tour. There are so many holiday highlights along the trails: fantastic viewpoints, physical challenges and welcoming Alpine chalets - the journey is the reward during mountain biking in the Alps. Experience limitless mountain biking fun in the Paznaun Valley!

Red Tour No. 30, Diasalpe Alpine pasture

Start your biking tour to the Diasalpe Alpine pasture in Kappl. Enjoy the ascent over a moderately steep gravel road to the Diasalpe, then indulge in a Kasnocken-Suppe (a cheese dumpling soup) before plummeting into the valley on a forest and pasture trail to Ulmich, suitable for intermediate mountain bikers. Alternatively take the gravel road back to Kappl.

Red Tour No. 31, Durrichalpe Alpine pasture

Are you looking for traditional Alpine scenes of rustic chalets and grazing cows on lush pastures? Then this tour is for you. A moderately steep gravel road (with a difference in altitude of 550 metres) leads to the Durrichalpe Alpine pasture from Kappl. Indulge in the idyllic natural environment. The return path back to Kappl on a gravel road is easily manageable without extensive biking experience.

Red Tour No. 32, village tour Glitt

A difference in altitude of 860 metres at 23 kilometres -  the beautiful mountain villages of Kappl, Bichl, Perpat, Langesthei, Glitt and See, as well as several picturesque hamlets, await you along the flat tarmac and gravel roads. Admittedly, there are some uphill passages, but never steep enough to lose your breath. A bicycle excursion perfectly suited for families with older children and advanced beginners who are keen to venture out on their first 23 kilometre trip in the Austrian Alps.

Red Tour No. 34, Ascherhuette Alpine chalet

This tour is a must while mountain biking in the Alps. The Ascherhuette Alpine chalet at 2,248 metres above sea level lies high above the Paznaun Valley. Why not take a shortcut with the Medrigjochbahn cable-car (saving you 700 metres in altitude difference) on the ascent on the long but relatively flat gravel road. The best section of the scenic trail to the cosy Ascherhuette chalet with its marvellous sun deck is still ahead! For the return into the valley you will be spoilt for choice: would you prefer the demanding super-trail for mountain bike experts or a comfortable ride on the gravel road?
