FORGOTTEN TASTES IN GALTÜR

The Galtür Gourmet Event from 18 to 20 July 2008 is an invitation to study, philosophise, and feast on selected specialities: A symposium of good taste high up in alpine surroundings.

Philosophise, taste, enjoy - the third edition of the Galtür Gourmet Event from 18 to 20 July 2008 is dedicated to the "Search for forgotten tastes". At 1,600 metres, high up in the Alps, top wine growers, international top chefs, and farming pioneers come together in the Tyrolean holiday resort to take part in lectures, exclusive cooking events, and discussions. Whether it is the very best menus from star rated chefs or exquisite wines from top winemakers - gourmets will, most definitely, not be disappointed. At the Galtür Gourmet Event, cuisine experts take up the "search for forgotten flavours": Karl Schweisfurth, the former Herta boss and present day organic food pioneer, is committed like no one else in Europe to the radical change towards awareness and responsibility in farming. The "Paradeiser-Kaiser", Erich Stekovics, Austria's largest producer of tomatoes - or "paradeiser" to use the Austrian term - will also be present. He specialises exclusively on old varieties that are almost forgotten today, after having been forced from the market by conventional farming. Many top chefs and star winegrowers such as Austria's chef of the decade, Jörg Wörther, three-star-chef Martin Sieberer, local matador Hermann Huber, and winegrowing shooting star Roland Velich will create exquisite creations to ensure that enjoyment and pleasure in this wonderful Alpine panorama are not neglected.

Enjoyment at its highest level
As well as in Galtür, the event will also take place for the first time in selected places throughout the Paznaun area: Be it on the Durrich Alm, spectacularly situated in Kappl, or in the gourmet tested alpine house on Ischgl's Idalpe, the co-founder of the symposium Jörg Wörther together with other top chefs celebrate their skills. Sohyi Kim celebrates great successes with her creative Asiatic cuisine. She now cooks in Paznaun after publishing several books and appearing at Johannes B. Kerner's show on German TV. Local matador Martin Sieberer, the three star chef of the restaurant Paznauner Stube, puts on a delicious home performance. Roland Velich, wine director of the gourmet event, is responsible for the participation of prominent and aspiring Austrian winegrowers: Michael Moosbrugger, Master of Schloss Gobelsburg and winegrower of the year for 2006, Elisabeth Pichler, Erich Krutzler, and Ewald Tscheppe invite guests to take part in exclusive wine tasting. Stimulating musical accompaniment is provided by Stubnblues' front man Willi Resetarits in his usual competent manner. For the first time this year, he welcomes the Bavarian Fusion Combo "Die Cuba Boarischen" to his gourmet revue.
