Wanderbutz
Summer holiday in Kappl – Paznaun Wanderbutz
Hiking in Kappl is even more worthwhile with the “Wanderbutz”. Follow the tracks of this mythical figure and collect a valuable hiking badge.
Here in Kappl, you can collect a stamp for your personal hiking booklet (available from the Tourism Association) at each alp or mountain hut that you visit when hiking. An entertaining programme, even for the youngest hiking holidaymakers.
The legendary Wanderbutz is one of the most important traditions in Paznaun. The legend, which tells of the ghost of a deceased dairy farmer, who wanders through the valleys of Paznaun, is firmly rooted in the valley’s traditions. Hike on the tracks of this mythical figure! Today, ambitious hikers receive the Wanderbutz as a badge. This is an amusing incentive for you to get to know as much of the impressive Silvretta, Samnaun and Verwall group as possible, during your hiking holiday. The more “Wanderbutz" stamps you collect, the more valuable the badge that you receive at the end. You can gain the following four “Wanderbutz” badges during your hiking holiday in Tyrol:
- Bronze: If you collect 18 points
- Silver: If you collect 36 points
- Gold: If you collect 54 points
- Gold set in mountain pine wreath: If you gain gold three times in three years.
For children up to 6 years old and seniors over 60 the following applies:
- Bronze: If you collect 10 points
- Silver: If you collect 20 points
- Gold: If you collect 30 points
You must pay a contribution of 4.50 euros towards the costs when you are awarded the badge.
