From Construction Site to Completed Structure – The New Diasbahn Continues to Grow

Significant progress has again been made over the past few days on the construction site of the new Diasbahn. At the valley station, vertical construction is now underway: the first intermediate ceiling slab is being formed. Next up is the installation of steel reinforcement, followed by the concrete pour. Clearly visible is the temporary support structure beneath the formwork, which holds the weight of the wet concrete during the curing phase. Once the concrete has hardened and can bear loads on its own, this support system is removed.

At the same time, a so-called “walking excavator” is in operation along the future cable car route. This highly specialized machine moves on individually steerable legs and is capable of navigating extremely steep and rugged terrain. Thanks to its unique mobility, the impact on the natural landscape is kept to a minimum. The excavator is digging trenches for utility lines and drainage – efficient, low-impact, and precise, even in the most challenging locations.

Progress is also clearly visible at the top station: the first walls have been erected, and new building materials are arriving on a regular basis. The outline of the building is now easily recognizable. The next step here – just like at the valley station – will be the formwork for the first ceiling slab.

With each passing week, one thing becomes increasingly clear: the new Diasbahn is taking shape!

VALLEY STATION – First Ceiling Slab Underway

At the valley station, formwork for the first ceiling slab is currently being assembled. The structure rests on a temporary support system that carries the weight of the concrete during curing. Once the concrete has reached the required strength, the support elements are removed. A crucial step in the vertical construction of the station building.

CABLE LINE – Walking Excavator at Work

Along the future cable car line, a walking excavator is being used. This specialized machine is highly adaptable to rough alpine terrain and can perform precise excavation work even on steep slopes. Because of its design, it requires only minimal intervention in the natural surroundings – a major advantage for construction in sensitive alpine environments.

TOP STATION – First Walls in Place

construction is also progressing steadily at the top station: the first walls have already been built, the layout of the structure is taking shape, and materials continue to arrive. The next major milestone here will be the formwork ofthe ceiling slab – bringing the building one step closer to completion.

Shaping the Future Together: Investing in Comfort and Quality

With the construction of the new Dias cable car in Kappl – a modern link to the high-altitude ski area – and the new Familienglück lift in See, the Bergbahnen Kappl and Bergbahnen See are jointly investing in future-proof infrastructure and enhanced comfort. A total investment of around 25 million euros is being made to modernize both facilities. This is a strong signal for the sustainable development of the Kappl-See ski network and a clear commitment to the region.
