HIGH-BIKE TEST CENTRE IN PAZNAUN WOWS AGAIN FOR FOURTH SUMMER SEASON WITH LATEST MODELS ON MARKET
The only multi-make motorbike test centre in the Alps, High-Bike in Paznaun in Ischgl, Tyrol, is to open for its fourth season on 1 June 2014. Around 50 motorbikes are to be offered this year from leading manufacturers like BMW, Ducati, KTM and Triumph, including all the new models released over the autumn and winter. BMW C650GT scooters are also available for test rides.
New offerings from BMW are the enormously high-profile BMW R nineT, the new edition of the R 1200 RT touring bike (with boxer engine), the latest generation of the BMW R 1200 GS Adventure and the all-new S 1000 R power naked bike. The German auto giant has also placed the first high-power electric scooter, the C evolution, in Ischgl. Available from Ducati are the new Monster 1200 and its even sharper S version along with the second generation of the Diavel. KTM offers the new Adventure, which stands out as the only bike with Bosch cornering ABS. Triumph is defined by luxury cruisers this year: bikers have a choice between the Thunderbird LT and the America LT. Of course those vehicles that last year or even earlier were incorporated into the schedule are still available.
The test centre will open daily from 1 June to 30 September 2014, from 8.00 to 10.30 for collecting bikes and from 16.30 to 19.00 for their return. The rental fee for test rides, which can only be for one day, are only 70 Euro again this year for category one machines (100 Euro without a Paznaun visitors’ card). Category two vehicles cost 90 Euro (120 Euro without a Paznaun visitors’ card). Included in this contribution to cover costs is fully comprehensive insurance with an excess of just 500 Euro (deposit necessary). The petrol used during the day must be replaced by the tester by topping up the tank at their own cost at the end of the ride. Multi-day rides are not offered, as to give every visitor the chance to try his or her dream bike out, individual models can only be loaned for a day.
The bikes are all produced in 2014 and are rented out in a perfectly maintained condition. Maintenance is done strictly to the manufacturer’s guidelines or directly by the manufacturers. All motorbikes and scooters are fitted with Metzeler or Pirelli tyres, with Motorex products used to care for the vehicles. The engine oils used are also from the Motorex company. The High-Bike test centre can also rent out full motorbike safety equipment as desired in exchange for a small fee. Available are premium Gore-Tex suits from Rukka for him and her, the latest full-face helmets from Schuberth and functional Daytona Gore-Tex boots. Rukka gloves are also part of the offering, as are GIVI bags, luggage systems and tank bags.
Around 30 Alpine passes in Tyrol, Switzerland, South Tyrol (Italy) and Bavaria (Germany) are at your disposal for your test ride as all are reachable on a day-trip. Detailed route maps ensure that you won’t lose your way on the longer trips and equipping vehicles with navigation devices is in the pipeline.
Over its four-month season in 2013, the High-Bike test centre in Paznaun did a roaring trade. Close to 1,600 day-long test rides were completed with over 450,000 kilometres in total being clocked up.
