Hiking in Kappl und See – A pleasure on foot
Whether it is families, mountaineers or those who hike for pleasure – in Kappl and See an extensive network of well-developed and signposted hiking trails and Nordic Walking routes tempt you to get out and experience the natural surroundings. Those who prefer guided tours can be accompanied through the forest in Kappl by a forest ranger, or hike from inn to inn with a mountain guide and sample traditional alpine dairy produce.
In See water also has a major role to play in hikes. For instance, what about a hike to Wellnesspark Medrigalm for a relaxing time together as a couple, while the children have fun in the Kids Club. Two Kneipp facilities, a barefoot trail, sound cylinder – stone circle and much more ensure peace and tranquillity there, with the Paznaun mountains providing a dreamy backdrop. In contrast, the adventure trail which goes from the water park in See through the thundering Schaller gorge provides fun for all the family. A hiking bus, cable cars and chairlifts, which are also available to use free of charge with the guest card, also mean that the hikes on offer in Ischgl and Galtür, and the high mountain trails and via ferrata routes are also easily accessible.
The Genuss routes in Kappl and See are a highlight for gourmet hikers. Both routes are part of the ‚Culinary St. Jacob’s Way Trail‘, a programme for gourmets and hikers under the patronage of chef of the century Eckhart Witzigmann.
The destination of the Kappl Genuss hike is Niederelbe Hütte, which in summer 2013 is to be embraced by award-winning chef Kristof Coppens from Restaurant Apriori in Haaltert, Belgium. The innovative chef has become especially well-known for his achievements in the technical domain. He developed a low temperature cooking method, with which in a vacuum, while adding nitrogen, yielded completely new taste experiences. Yet Coppens clearly sees his roots in traditional Mediterranean cuisine, which he re-interprets and refines with the help of special techniques.
Genuss route See proceeds to Ascher Hütte, which in summer 2013 embraced by the award-winning chef from Munich, Otto Koch. This lovely man from Bavaria was, along with Eckart Witzigmann, Gerhard Gartner and Heinz Winkler, one of the pioneers of the new German cookery movement. After he had been at the pinnacle of cooking in his own restaurants for 20 years, he was out and about for a few years across the globe, acting as an adviser to the Robinson Clubs. He is now back in Munich and is delighting his guests with innovative, passionate cuisine in the impressive Restaurant 181 on the top floor of the Olympiaturm.
Koch and Coppens are to present their exclusive summer dishes at the opening event on 7th July 2013 in Jamtalhütte, before they are incorporated into the menus in Ascher Hütte and Niederelbe Hütte for the summer.
