Nordic Walking, a healthy endurance sport, was developed way up north in Finland so skiers in particular could also train effectively in summer. The sport gradually attracted a great following among every age group; after all, it burns more calories than normal walking does at the same speed.
 
Many holiday guests enjoying the combination of sport and superb landscape, and come back every year to Ischgl to enjoy the lovely Nordic Walking routes in the Paznaun region. You can do circuits on numerous hiking trails here.

EQUIPMENT

Nordic Walkers need good, sturdy sports shoes – there are even specific Nordic Walking versions – and a pair of Nordic Walking poles. Beginners or those who want to have a go at the sport can hire poles in Ischgl during a summer holiday, and even book a session with a trainer who will provide instruction in technique and practice drills.
