A strong high-pressure area is centered over the British Isles. However, its influence continues to extend to the Alps, and this is unlikely to change much this week. We will remain on the eastern side of the high until Friday, which means that high fog may continue to form in lower-lying valley areas during the night for the time being. However, this will dissipate again during the day and soon give way to sunshine. Above and outside these areas of high fog, it will generally remain very sunny. Occasionally, high clouds or a few cumulus clouds may appear, but these will have little effect on the sunny weather. Towards the weekend, the high-pressure system will move in from the west, centered directly over the Alps. The air will become even drier, and high fog will hardly be an issue. This will bring golden October weather at its finest, with the weekend promising to be flawlessly beautiful and the autumn mild.
